Norton Simon Museum - April 7th Creation, Collection and the Cosmos- A Visit to the Norton Simon Museum

Come join NetIP LA for a visit to the Norton Simon Museum to view their current exhibition, Creation, Collection and the Cosmos. Seventy masterpieces from the Norton Simon Museum's world-class collection of European, Asian and American art have been selected to demonstrate how artists defined spiritual connections with the cosmos within various cultural traditions and artistic media. Highlights of the exhibition include a selection of paintings and prints by Wassily Kandinsky; Gerard David's panel painting, The Coronation of the Virgin; a monumental Tibetan silk appliqué, The Future Buddha Maitreya; Ansel Adams's noted photograph Moonrise; a bronze Indian sculpture of Shiva as Nataraja; and a selection of graphic works by June Wayne. For more information about this exhibit, please go to http://www.nortonsimon.org/nsmspec.htm. The excursion will begin with lunch at 12 p.m. (more details to follow at a later date), at a nearby restaurant so that you can get better acquainted with your fellow exhibition attendees and will be followed by our visit to the museum. Entrance fee for the Norton Simon Museum is $6. For directions to the museum, please visit http://www.mapquest.com/cgi-bin/share?s8pdaarb499dhloh.
